About Mike Montrey

Mike Montrey is a professional musician, songwriter, producer, guitarist and, teacher, as well as being a registered vendor running music programs and classes in the Developmentally Disabled (DDD) community.

His band, Mike Montrey Band, has recorded 5 studio albums, and toured the country, performing in such esteemed venues as the Hollywood Bowl (CA), Stone Pony (NJ), Brooklyn Bowl (NYC), SXSW (TX), Red Rocks and Dick's Stadium (CO) among others. Mike was recently entered on the first ballot consideration for a  Grammy nomination for his 2021 performance of the classic Pogues' song, Fairytale Of New York. In 2018, Mike was named Artist of the Year by NJ Stage. Prior to forming MMB, Montrey toured as a guitarist for The Samples. Mike Montrey Music Teaching was founded in 2006, and began with a handful of students, and has grown into a roster of 40+ students monthly, ranging from guitar to vocals to songwriting to piano, drums and beyond. All styles and skill levels are accepted, and the teaching philosophy is to teach the individual, not the method. Mike Montrey is a registered NJ DDD vendor of music programs. His services include group virtual music sessions , as well as individual one on one sessions in person at his studio, or virtually. Additionally, Mike runs a group music program two days a week, and teaches music lessons at the Dawn To Dusk Wellbeing Center in Dayton, NJ.   

Mike also produces artists. Aquarian Weekly and NJ Stage named Mike Producer of the Year (2023) for his work on Juliana Frangella's debut full length LP, Intrusive Thoughts.
